Defeat Cellulite

Feeling that Cellulite has taken its grasp on you? There is no need to feel ‘orange’. The VelaShape lll from Syneron has state of the art technology to smooth away the orange peel by using four technologies in one single treatment.

What is Cellulite?

Put simply; cellulite is the appearance of dimpled skin also known as orange peel skin, which presents mainly on the outer thighs. Most women will probably experience cellulite due to the change in fat cell structure. Therefore, connective tissue cellulite occurs. It mostly forms in areas of minimum circulation which mainly presents the thighs.

Did you know there are different types of cellulite?

Grade 1- No visible cellulite, even when the skin is pinched. Grade 2- When lying down or standing there is no visible signs of cellulite, however, orange peel texture is visible when the skin is pinched. Grade 3- Cellulite is visible when standing, but may disappear when lying down. Grade 4- Visible cellulite when standing or lying down.

Factors influencing cellulite

A large percentage of females have cellulite due to the influence of female hormones, especially during the secondary sexual development phase. It is at puberty that girls develop fat over the buttocks, hips and lower abdomen and consequently this is where cellulite most commonly occurs.

The second is that the subcutaneous tissue contains more connective tissues and the more fat a patient has, the more obvious cellulite will be because tension rises within the subcutaneous fatty pearls.

Treatment: The Velashape III from Syneron

Thankfully there is a solution for treating cellulite with the Velashape III. The technology combines infrared light, bipolar radiofrequency energy and vacuum, which cause deep heating of the fat cells, their surrounding connective tissue and the underlying dermal connective tissue. This type of efficient heating and vacuum stimulates the growth of new and better connective tissue and elastin which results in a localized reduction in skin laxity, body volume, and an overall improvement in skin structure and texture.

Efficient heating of the fat cells with radiofrequency coupled with the application of vacuum/suction allows for even deeper heat penetration. Therefore, circulation intensifies, lymph drainage occurs and collagen production is stimulated. Previous endomology which is mechanical massaging, rolling and sucking of the skin’s surface does not prove to make a difference as there are not enough studies to support it. However, the combination of the latest technologies from the Velashape III has demonstrated effective results at Aesthetica Skin Centre.

Advice from the professionals

At Aesthetica Skin Centre we recommend 2-4 sessions two weeks apart with maintenance sessions thereafter. The treatment cost at Aesthetica Skin Centre is R1050 per session/per area. Mild swelling, redness or bruising may occur immediately after the treatment, although it subsides quickly (within 2-3 days). Expected results begin to show 1-4 weeks after the first treatment. The results show an overall improvement in skin structure, skin texture and reduction in skin laxity.
