VelaShape® is a non-invasive body contouring treatment for circumferential and cellulite reduction. VelaShape enables you to safely achieve a toned, contoured and well-shaped body in typically 3 treatment sessions (single treatment protocol is also available); making you look and feel more youthful. VelaShape provides dramatic results without downtime or significant discomfort.
Which areas can be treated with VelaShape?
Cellulite treatment areas could be on the neck (under chin), arms, thighs, buttocks, flank and abdomen. Most patients see gradual and cumulative results throughout the treatment regime.
Is VelaShape treatment right for me?
VelaShape is not a weight loss treatment. VelaShape uses a combination of technologies to contour your body, reducing the trouble spots that diet and exercise can’t reach. The ideal VelaShape patient is someone with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of less than 30.
VelaShape technology combines infrared light, bi-polar radio frequency energy and vacuum, which cause deep heating of the fat cells, their surrounding connective tissue and the underlying dermal connective tissue. This type of efficient heating and vacuum stimulates the growth of new and better connective tissue and elastin which results in localized reduction in skin laxity, body volume, and an overall improvement in skin structure and texture.
What do I expect from VelaShape treatments?
- Gradual smoothing of skin's surface with a noticeable reduction in cellulite
- Circumferential reduction, with noticeable reshaping of the treated area
What is the VelaShape procedure like?
Most patients find VelaShape comfortable and describe the treatment as feeling like a warm deep-tissue massage. The treatment parameters are easily adjusted to ensure a comfortable treatment experience. It is normal to experience a warm sensation for a few hours after your treatment. Some patients report a pinkish appearance at the treatment area that may last a few hours post treatment, and skin may appear pink for several hours.
VelaShape Mechanism of Action
VelaShape uses vacuum technology to manipulate your skin while infrared light (IR) and bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energies will gently heat fat cells and surrounding tissue. Over the course of your treatments, you will notice a reduction in both circumference and in the appearance of cellulite in the treated areas.

What is Loose Skin?
Skin that has lost its spring isn't the result of just one cause. Several factors are likely responsible for making your once supple skin appear tired and droopy. The most common cause of sagging skin is ageing. As you age, your skin loses the connective tissue and elastins, your skin's supportive connective tissue, that make it look soft, plump and youthful. In addition, facial muscles can weaken with age, which takes a toll too. Getting older means more exposure to the dreaded pull of gravity; which we know causes skin to sag a little further down with each passing day.
Sun exposure is another reason for skin losing its elasticity. The sun's powerful rays damage skin cells which, over time, this can increase the effects of ageing. It's a double-edged sword -- all that ultraviolet radiation you soaked up while getting the perfect tan was also breaking down your connective tissue and elastin, which can lead to saggy skin and wrinkles.
Last but not least, weight loss, especially the loss of large amounts of weight over a short period of time, can cause skin to sag. Those who undergo bariatric surgery often find themselves stuck with skin and tissue too stretched out to snap back People who lose a lot of weight quickly with diet and exercise may be disappointed by the amount of skin that is left sagging after all their hard work and discipline. Despite all of these skin-sabotaging factors, you are not necessarily stuck with skin that's gone slack.
Its name makes it sound like a medical condition. But cellulite is nothing more than normal fat beneath the skin. The fat appears bumpy because it pushes against connective tissue, causing the skin above it to pucker. Cellulite isn't harmful. Many people, though, would like to get rid of it because of the way it looks.
What Causes Cellulite
Having cellulite doesn't mean you are overweight. Even thin people can have it. If you are overweight, however, losing weight may reduce cellulite. Cellulite is more common among women than men. If other women in your family have cellulite, there's a good chance you will too.
Other factors that influence how much cellulite you have and how visible it is include:
- Poor diet
- Fad dieting
- Slow metabolism
- Lack of physical activity
- Hormone changes
- Total body fat
- Thickness and colour of your skin
What are the causes of localised fatty deposits?
The largest organ of the human body is the skin. Comprising the skin are different layers which are formulated from fat tissue cells and muscle cells. When talking about the accumulation of fat deposits underneath the skin it is important to know that this is a normal and natural process. In fact, the fat acts as an insulator to external elements and helps to prevent hyperthermia. However, the downside of having fat deposits underneath the skin, cellulitis, is that it can appear unsightly.
Fat Deposits Under the Skin
The fat deposits are held in reserve by the body in the event that the body needs other sources of energy. This accumulation of fat is also due to the individual eating more food than what is required by the body. These fatty deposits, although they look unseemly, are harmless to the individual. Although unsightly because of being undulated it is important to note that these deposits are not cancerous nor are they to be considered as tumours. Generally, their appearance does more to undermine an individual’s appearance and their self-confidence.
The reason why the body has stored these fatty deposits beneath the surface of the skin is that there is no specific location or reserve tank in which the fat deposits are placed. It is simply an arbitrary depositing process conducted by the body.
The Danger of Fatty Deposits
Although these deposits are, for the most part, harmless, they may be an indication of something more severe that is happening even deeper and more internally within the body itself. Specifically, fat is stored in the areas of the abdomen, thighs, hips and other critical major organs. Some of these organs could include the liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc.
The danger of this accumulated fat within the body can lead to the possible risk of this fat travelling through the bloodstream to different parts of the body. This in turn could develop severe medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease high blood pressure, etc.
Reducing Fatty Deposits
There are many ways that an individual can reduce fatty deposits within the body. One of the simplest steps is as close as one’s mouth. Consequently, diet can play a very important role in significantly reducing fatty deposits. Therefore, it is important to eliminate as much as possible saturated and Transfats from one’s diet. These types of fats can be replaced with healthy fats or polyunsaturated fats that can be derived from flaxseed oil, sunflower oil or olive oil. These healthy fats not only enhance the body’s metabolism, but are also heart healthy.
Coupled with diet is the benefit of exercising. It is suggested that an individual exercise for at least five days a week at a level the 45 min. per day. This will help to elevate one’s metabolism and help to burn off excess fat within the body.

If you have any questions regarding these potential risks and complications. Please discuss them with our doctors or aesthetic therapist prior to treatments.
Before undergoing a treatment, please be sure that you understand that YOUR actual results will likely VARY SIGNIFICANTLY from other patient’s results, including their BEFORE & AFTER photos.
This is quite important to understand — that EVEN when you feel that you look very similar to another client in their BEFORE images, your results will likely vary significantly — because you are a unique person. Every individual has NOT only a completely unique physique, but also uniquely individualistic body healing capacities, scarring tendencies and recovery processes — some of which are unpredictable even in very-healthy patients who rest adequately and do ALL the other right things before and after their procedure.
