Pure Smile Teeth Whitening

Pure Smile uses a whitening system that has been used for over 4 years in the USA and Europe. It contains all the components required for effective whitening. It is a self-administered treatment utilizing the latest UV blue light whitening technology. Studies have confirmed that heat and light represent the main catalysts for the whitening process.

All teeth whitening procedures in South Africa are done with whitening gels containing hydrogen peroxide, a strong chemical that gives most users sensitive teeth and gum irritation.

PURE SMILE whitening agents are :

- Soda bicarbonate (baking soda). It is known as a strong whitening agent. It's totally safe since it's used for cooking and baking.

- Pomegranate, Aloe Vera and Chamomile and are known as whitening agents and used in many skincare products to whiten the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long does this process last?
6 months to a year is not unusual and we do recommend that one now cares for your newly whitened teeth with our Keep Bright Pen. Typically, we recommend pursuing another treatment in about 6 months but it can be done safely every 3 months. Longevity of results is dietary dependant. That is, a smoker or regular coffee drinker will accumulate stain quicker than someone who does not smoke or drink coffee.

Is this type of whitening safe?

Yes, we use an over the counter concentration of whitening gel combined with the LED light to activate the whitening process. There are contraindications if you are pregnant, photosensitive or if you have crowns or fillings as they will not lighten. We always suggest any dental related questions be related to your dentist as he/she knows your history. This is an aesthetic treatment and can be provided to most people.

Who may benefit from Pure Smile System?

Almost everyone can enjoy the benefit of the whitening process if their teeth and gums are healthy. Remember, teeth cannot become whiter than genetically possible.

How does this process work?

All Teeth Whitening gels are made up of the same basic ingredient which is Carbamide Peroxide (some Hydrogen Peroxide). The difference in gels whether it is sold at the drugstore, the Pure Smile System or from the dentist is the CONCENTRATION. Our concentration is considered by the FDA to be over the counter, but it is higher than most over the counter gels. It is lower in concentration than the dental office and that is why we experience minimal or no sensitivity to our system! We do not require you to use a whitening product for 7-21 days ….which can cause sensitivity. Our results are magnificent and instant!

What does the LED light do?

That is a secret to the success of this treatment. How does such gentle whitening gel work so quickly? The LED is specific in its wavelength. This wavelength is compatible with activating the oxygen release in the peroxide gel. Once the oxygen is released it will cling to the staining and gently lift it away. Our medical-grade light enables us to always get a result effectively and efficiently.

Some causes of teeth discoloration include:

  • Foods/drinks Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth.
  • Tobacco Smoking stains your teeth.
  • Poor dental hygiene Inadequate brushing will stain your teeth.
  • Several diseases that affect enamel (the hard surface of the teeth) and dentin (the underlying material under enamel) can lead to tooth discoloration. Treatments for certain conditions can also affect the tooth color. For example, head and neck radiation and chemotherapy can cause teeth discoloration.

All our photographs of before and after treatment results are examples only, and do not constitute an implied or any other kind of guarantee of the result of treatment procedures. Results can vary significantly between our clients. All our treatment results are subject to the individualities of each client.

Furthermore, all treatment procedures carry potential risks and complications which are described in detail in our treatment consent forms. These may include but are not limited to, bleeding, infection, asymmetry, dissatisfaction with the result and the expense of further treatments to manage a complication (patient forms). If you have any questions regarding these potential risks and complications. Please discuss them with our doctors or aesthetic therapist prior to treatments.

Before undergoing a treatment, please be sure that you understand that YOUR actual results will likely VARY SIGNIFICANTLY from other patient’s results, including their BEFORE & AFTER photos.

This is quite important to understand — that EVEN when you feel that you look very similar to another client in their BEFORE images, your results will likely vary significantly — because you are a unique person.  Every individual has NOT only a completely unique physique but also uniquely individualistic body healing capacities, scarring tendencies and recovery processes — some of which are unpredictable even in very-healthy patients who rest adequately and do ALL the other right things before and after their procedure.

Please be noted, our doctors and aesthetic therapists offer you our highest expertise in our aesthetic procedures.
