Spider veins get their name from the web of red or blue veins that often start to spread across your legs as you age. They’re dilated superficial blood vessels like varicose veins, but smaller and closer to the skin. Spider veins are often in areas behind the knee, but they can appear anywhere on the body.

To show just how common spider veins are, a group of researchers looked at 1,566 people and found that 84 percent had spider veins — called telangiectasia in medical jargon — on their right legs alone. While they don't usually cause medical problems, they can be eliminated for medical or cosmetic reasons.

Spider Technology Thermo-coagulation is used to treat not only telangiectasias (Spider Veins) but also rosacea, skin tags and ruby points.

It is intended for all adults having spider veins, rosacea, skin tags and ruby points.

SPIDER is applicable to any part of the body with spider veins, skin tags, rosacea and ruby points, even sensitive areas such as ankles, knees and face and also those areas where laser and sclerotherapy are not indicated or adequate.

SPIDER generates a pulse that produces the thermo-coagulation of veins resulting in their immediate disappearance with no risk of adverse effects or epidermis damage. The ultra-fine, sterilized, needles used in this treatment are disposable and coated with an insulating material, and in no case affect surrounding tissues, as a result of its accurate operating range and lack of side effects.

Length of Treatment

Causes of Varicose Veins and Spider Veins

  • A number of factors predispose a person to varicose veins and spider veins. These include:
  • Heredity
  • Occupations that involve a lot of standing, such as nurses, hairstylists, teachers, and factory workers
  • Obesity
  • Hormonal influences of pregnancy, puberty, and menopause
  • The use of birth control pills
  • Post-menopausal hormonal replacement
  • A history of blood clots
  • Conditions that cause increased pressure in the abdomen, such as tumours, constipation, and externally worn garments like girdles.

Other reported causes include trauma or injury to the skin, previous vein surgery, and exposure to ultraviolet rays.

Other Risk Factors for Varicose Veins and Spider Veins

Varicose veins and spider veins develop more often in women than in men. They increase in frequency with age. An estimated 30% to 60% of adults have varicose veins or spider veins.

Symptoms of Varicose Veins and Spider Veins

Many people with varicose veins complain of pain, described as an aching or cramping in the legs. Other common symptoms include tiredness, restlessness, burning, throbbing, tingling, or heaviness in the legs. Pain from these veins is usually relieved by elevating the legs or by wearing support hose.

In women, symptoms may be worse during certain parts of the menstrual cycle or during pregnancy. Less common is swelling, ulcers and a darkening of the skin, especially in the ankle region. Occasionally, varicose veins can form a painful blood clot with inflammation of the vein, a condition called thrombophlebitis.

All our photographs of before and after treatment results are examples only, and do not constitute an implied or any other kind of guarantee of the result of treatment procedures. Results can vary significantly between our clients. All our treatment results are subject to the individualities of each client.

Furthermore, all treatment procedures carry potential risks and complications which are described in detail in our treatment consents forms. These may include, but are not limited to, bleeding, infection, asymmetry, dissatisfaction with the result and the expense of further treatments to manage a complication (patient forms). If you have any questions regarding these potential risks and complications. Please discuss them with our doctors or aesthetic therapist prior to treatments.

Before undergoing a treatment, please be sure that you understand that YOUR actual results will likely VARY SIGNIFICANTLY from other patient’s results, including their BEFORE & AFTER photos.

This is quite important to understand — that EVEN when you feel that you look very similar to another client in their BEFORE images, your results will likely vary significantly — because you are a unique person.  Every individual has NOT only a completely unique physique, but also uniquely individualistic body healing capacities, scarring tendencies and recovery processes — some of which are unpredictable even in very-healthy patients who rest adequately and do ALL the other right things before and after their procedure.

Please be noted, our doctors and aesthetic therapists offer you our highest expertise in our aesthetic procedures.
